Plan your connection
Build a daily budget, add your travel days, and find an eSIM that lasts. Free to use, with no signup.
Choose a destination, then select “Find plans for this budget” to compare real prices. The plan must have enough data and stay valid for your whole trip.
We add your daily browsing allowance, music, video and other data, multiply by trip length, then add your chosen headroom. We use 1,000 MB per GB and round the plan target up to a whole GB. The starting routines and 20% headroom are planning assumptions, not measured averages or guarantees.
Music uses an assumed 160 kbps stream, equivalent to 72 MB per hour before connection overhead. Spotify’s audio-quality guide explains how settings change usage. Lossless audio can use much more. Video uses 1 GB per hour, the standard-definition upper figure in Netflix’s data guide. Its HD figure is up to 3 GB per hour, so add extra data if you watch at higher quality.
For a more personal estimate, check your phone’s recent cellular usage over a known number of days. Divide the total by those days, enter that daily amount under “Maps, messages and browsing”, and set the other fields to zero to avoid counting them twice. Leave headroom for changes in your travel routine.

A 5 GB plan allows about 595 MB per day over seven days when you leave 20% headroom. That may suit maps, browsing and some music, but regular video can use it quickly. Adjust the calculator to the time you will actually spend on mobile data.
Traffic sent over Wi-Fi does not use your eSIM allowance. Count only cellular use here. Your phone may switch to mobile data when Wi-Fi is weak, so check its data settings.
Unlimited plans can have daily high-speed limits or fair-use restrictions. Their headline allowance cannot guarantee the high-speed data in this estimate. Compare their individual fair-use terms separately.
